Scott Parker has made his fourth summer addition in the form of 33-year-old goalkeeper Neto from FC Barcelona.

The Brazilian-born shot-stopper began his career with Club Athletico Paranaense in his native country, where he made his senior debut at the age of 19.

After a handful of appearances in his first season for the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A side, Neto received his first senior international call-up shortly following the start of the second.

Despite multiple call-ups, the stopper’s Brazil debut came eight years following his first involvement in a squad, lining up against El Salvador in 2018.

At club level, Neto opted for pastures new at the end of the 2010 Brasileiro campaign and transferred to Italian outfit Fiorentina.

The goalkeeper came in as number two to former Cherry Artur Boruc before going on to become first-choice stopper ahead of the 2013/14 season.

Before his departure to Juventus in 2015, Neto featured in a run to the round of 16 in the Europa League, the semi-finals a year later and also the 2014 Coppa Italia final.

Two seasons with Juventus followed the 33-year-old’s time with I Viola where he enjoyed plenty of success despite serving as back up to Gianluigi Buffon.

The Italian giants recorded back-to-back Serie A and Coppa Italia titles and also finished runners-up in the Champions League, which Neto made his debut in on route to their final defeat at the hands of Real Madrid.

Another two-season stint came next, with the Brazilian moving to Spain, where he would be number one for Valencia.

Two fourth-placed finishes in La Liga, a Europa League semi-final and victory over Barcelona in the final of the 2018/19 Copa del Rey followed for Neto before a big-money move to the beaten finalists.

Parker’s latest addition was back-up to Marc-Andre Ter Stegen during his time at Camp Nou, featuring sporadically for the Catalan giants.

Neto moves to Vitality Stadium with over 20 Barcelona appearances under his belt and a second Copa del Rey medal, won during the 2020/21 term.
