With Monday, March 4, 2024 marking the 30th anniversary of the first auditions for the iconic girl group, made up of Ginger Spice, Posh Spice, Scary Spice, Sporty Spice and Baby Spice, Geri Halliwell, Victoria Beckham, Mel B, Melanie C and Emma Bunton respectively took to social to share some old audition and rehearsal footage from back in the day.
"Today marks the 30th anniversary of the very first Spice Girls," the group’s official X account shared alongside the throwback clip. “What started back in 1994 has turned into an amazing journey, way beyond anything we could have ever imagined. Thank you to our fans for your support from day one. #FriendshipNeverEnds”
The montage, which is obviously set to the Spice Girls' 1996 monster hit “Wannabe," features the girls dancing, singing, and laughing together as they rehearse to begin to form into what will become one of the hottest groups of the time.
As it seems, the big anniversary might entice the girl group to gift us with more than just throwbacks. During an appearance on Today with Hoda & Jenna this past January, Mel B teased "some really good news in about a few weeks that involves all five of us.”
Admitting that dealing with five different schedules is difficult, she confirmed fans would be "100 percent satisfied" by this still unknown news. "And it’s going to be the gift that keeps on giving, without saying too much about it," she said, adding, "I’m going to get myself into so much trouble.”
