Gerard Piqué has no intention whatsoever of leaving Barcelona for Manchester United

Or any team, for that matter.

Manuel Queimadelos Alonso

Gerard Piqué is one of the best Barcelona's center-backs in recent history. He is unique in every way, and a different type of defender, which made him perhaps the best in the world in his position a few years ago. Last season, he and his team had a huge decline, and many believed Piqué was not going to return to the usual form.

This season, he wants to answer the critics. Despite not being a definite starter in Luis Enrique's team, he has had very good performances, somewhat reminiscing of the good old days. But the lack of playing time led to some rumours about Piqué possibly leaving his team and returning to the only club he played for other than Barça: Manchester United.

The boyfriend of Shakira gave an interview to FourFourTwo magazine, in which he quickly dismissed any possibility of him leaving the Catalan side.

"I love this club, for its history, its style of play and its connection to Catalunya. I love here.

I'm at the best club in the world right now. I have no intention of leaving now, or later. I've just signed a new contract and I want to retire a Blaugrana, just like Puyol did. You never know what the future holds, but right now, I love this city, I love the people in the club, and most importantly, I love the institution. I don't see myself leaving."

Oh, one more thing. Piqué says in this interview that he listens to Shakira's songs before every match. When asked why, he said "it's the best music out there!". His dinner is safe.
