Barcelona step up Rodrygo interest

Today’s rumors start with Rodrygo and news that the player’s agent and his father have been in Barcelona for a “courtesy visit.”

According to Sport the teenager is now a “big objective” for Barcelona and they are keen to find some sort of agreement quickly to prevent other clubs signing him.

Barcelona scouts have been really impressed with the youngster and think the Santos winger can be the club’s next big star.

Thiago not coming back to Barcelona

Over at Mundo Deportivo there’s a report that last season Roberto Fernandez met up with Thiago to talk about potentially coming back to Barcelona.

Barcelona had apparently received word that the midfielder would be open to leaving Bayern Munich and returning to the Camp Nou.

After the chat Thiago and Robert decided to take some time to think about it, however the midfielder then signed a new deal with Bayern and that’s pretty much that.

No interest in Umtiti from Manchester United

Marca have some pretty good news in the shape of Samuel Umtiti. They report that despite all the speculation Manchester United are not actually interested in the centre-back.

However, there is an interesting part where they reckon that Umtiti contacted Manchester City to see if they were keen back in December.

Pep Guardiola’s side got the impression he was using them to leverage a better deal from Barcelona and promptly signed Aymeric Laporte.

In any case the word is that with no serious admirers Umtiti will continue at Barcelona, although the Frenchman may not get quite the pay rise he was after.

Valencia keen on Denis Suarez

It doesn’t matter how many times Denis Suarez professes his love for Barcelona and insists he will stay, the rumors just keep on coming.

AS are the latest culprits as they reckon that Valencia are keeping an eye on Denis’ situation at Barcelona.

Denis is determined to fight for his place but Valencia may be willing to tempt his, and the club’s, resolve with a summer bid.

Gremio don’t want to lose Arthur this summer

Over at Marca there’s a little piece about how Gremio don’t want to lose Arthur this summer and would rather complete the deal with Barcelona in the winter.

The report also offers a reminder that Arthur’s arrival will also cause a problem as Barcelona only have three non-EU spots and they are filled by Yerry Mina, Philippe Coutinho and Paulinho.

Coutinho could free up a space if he receives a Portuguese passport through his wife but it’s not known how long that make take. Indeed it could mean that Yerry Mina is sent out on loan to make space for Arthur.

Barcelona to give Mina a chance

Tallking of Yerry Mina and Sport offer an update on his future and reckon Ernesto Valverde will offer him a chance to prove himself in the last two games of the season against Levante and Real Sociedad.

There are concerns that Mina has not quite adjusted to the pace of European football and they’ve been trying to improve him in training.

Barcelona have not yet made a decision on his future and much may depend on how he fares if he plays in those games.
