MONTERREY, Mexico – Monterrey announced Friday the acquisition of goalkeeper Alexander Dominguez from Ecuador’s Liga Deportiva Universitaria de Quito.

The Ecuador international is coming off a stint at the Copa America Centenario, where he appeared in three games.

Dominguez experienced tremendous success with Liga de Quito, being a member of multiple championship-winning squads, including the Ecuadorian league (2007, 2010), the Copa Libertadores (2008) and the Copa Sudameriacana (2009).

With Ecuador, the 29-year-old played in three 2014 FIFA World Cup matches.

Three-time champion Monterrey will compete in the 2016/17 Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League against Group D rivals Don Bosco FC and Arabe Unido.
