  • The 38-year-old went on to skipper Australia in 35 matches

Ange Postecoglou has named former Socceroos captain Mile Jedinak as part of his coaching staff at Tottenham.

The 38-year-old joins Spurs as assistant coach following a spell as a youth coach and loan development coach at Aston Villa.

Jedinak played 259 games in all competitions for Crystal Palace and Aston Villa and won 79 caps for the Socceroos between 2008 and 2018.

Thirty-five of those appearances came as captain - the fourth-most in Socceroos history - after Postecoglou named him skipper in 2014.

Jedinak will be joined at Spurs by Chris Davies and Rob Burch, who have been appointed as senior assistant coach and first team goalkeeping coach respectively.

Davies has previously worked on the coaching staff at Swansea City, Liverpool, Celtic and Leicester City, where he served as Brendan Rodgers' assistant.

A product of Spurs' youth set-up, Burch was the club's academy goalkeeping coach until 2019, before taking up coaching roles with the Football Association, Fulham, AFC Bournemouth and Belgian side Club Brugge.

Tottenham also confirmed Ryan Mason will be staying on at the club in an assistant coach capacity.

Former Spurs midfielder Mason took charge of the final six matches of the 2022-23 campaign, but doubts were cast over his long-term future.

The 32-year-old stated his readiness for management during his second interim stint with his old side.

However, the once-capped England international will remain at Tottenham as part of Postecoglou's backroom set-up.

The new team of coaching staff will begin work on July 1.
