A burning question that's been circling Rogue One: A Star Wars Story like a buzzard is whether Darth Vader will make an appearance in the prequel/spinoff movie.

And now we have some confirmation that the Dark Lord of the Sith WILL be back, courtesy of a preview of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story - The Official Visual Story Guide.

Vader sits front and centre in the pages from the book, previewed by edelweiss (and cleverly spotted by the guys at Jedi-Bibliothek).

With the film set before and around the events of A New Hope - centring on the plot to steal the plans for the first Death Star - it would make sense for the Emperor's hatchet man to make an appearance.

Speculation was rife about clues to his appearance in the Rogue One trailer, but there was nothing unequivocal to prove that he was definitely going to show up.

There is no word as of yet whether Dave Prowse and James Earl Jones will be reuniting to play Vader.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will be released on December 16.
