Andres Guardado confirms MLS interest

Contract offer now being reported at $3 million

Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

Andres Guardado confirmed his MLS interest at an event in Guadalajara today around his Foundation and the Mexican Olympic team. According to MedioTiempo.com and tweets from Eric Gomez, a respected Mexican soccer journalist, Guardado won't close the door on playing soccer in MLS.

This reaffirms the rumors that Atlanta United is actively pursuing the Mexican winger currently playing for PSV Eindhoven. The $3 million figure is half of the original $6 million price tag originally reported by John Sutcliffe last month. The report also states that the offer spans the length of three years.

It's also important to note that the Dutch club will not be releasing Guardado for the 2016 Rio Olympics, which could mean the club is acting conservatively to ensure the players health in order to secure a transfer. Guardado is set to join PSV next week for preseason training.
