With Swiss legend keeper Diego Benaglio retiring from the international game, a competition for starter opened up between three Bundesliga keepers - Burki, Yann Sommer, and Marwin Hitz. Weigl is a gritty player who can be a dangerous force both offensively and defensively. His passing is crisp and accurate and he has a knack for creating chances.
