Andres Iniesta believes Spain’s friendly win against Bolivia was a good way to start their World Cup preparations.
Iniesta netted the second goal of the 2-0 victory over the South Americans after Fernando Torres’ penalty opened the scoring.
He told reporters after the match that the victory adds to the encouraging feeling after an enjoyable week of training with the national team.
“It’s always better to go with good feelings,” the Barcelona man said, according to AS.
“We worked well during the week, in each workout. The game was good.”
Iniesta added that the he is sure Coach Vicente Del Bosque will name a strong 23-man squad, adding that it will be strong regardless of the make-up of it.
“I think we are the ones waiting now,” he said.
“The Coach will decide. Whether you’ve been with us today or you’ll join after, the group will be strong.”
There were no Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid players involved in the game at Sevilla’s Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan after the two teams contested the Champions League final a week ago.
It was put to Iniesta that tiredness would be a factor at the World Cup but the midfielder argued that every country has players who worked hard this season.
“I don’t know, although everyone will see it that way,” he replied.
“The season was demanding but every team has a burden of matches. It’s another scenario that is different from last year.
“What remains is sufficient enough to be exciting.”
Iniesta also revealed that the match took an unexpected turn when the referee asked for his shirt at the final whistle.
“We only have two and I’d already given them away,” he said.
“Referees don’t normally ask me, but he did today.”
