Sabella wants ‘perfect game’

Argentina Coach Alejandro Sabella has said his side needs to play the perfect game if they are to beat Germany and lift the World Cup.

The countries meet tonight in the Marcana with Argentina going for a first World Cup trophy since 1986 and Germany a first since 1990.

It will also be Sabella’s last game in charge of the national team and he told a Press conference that bringing the World Cup back to Argentina would do great things for football in the country.

“Being champion is always good for football in the country,” AS reports him as saying.

“Expectations are renewed. It’s motivation and encouragement for clubs and players.

“It should be a great game. We need to concentrate and not turnover the ball in dangerous areas.

“Germany have always been powerful. They have a very well-crafted and elaborate system. We need to play the perfect game to win.”

Sabella also dismissed talk of the end of his tenure with the national team, instead focusing on the match and stressing his players won’t leave anything on the field.

“It’s an irrelevant issue thinking about the game,” he insisted when his future was raised.

“It’s the most important game of my career, beyond the Copa Libertadores final, which was also in Brazil.

“I tell the people that we are going to give everything. Through humility, work and simplicity we will deliver everything to try and make Argentina champions again.”
