Carlos Vela considering shock switch from LAFC to LA Galaxy after receiving offer from MLS rivals

According to <a href="https://en.as.com/soccer/carlos-vela-could-join-lafcs-mls-rivals-la-galaxy-n/" target="_blank">AS</a>, the Mexican striker is weighing up his future after <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/carlos-vela-lafc-mls-cup-last-dance/blt257bf3f24786641f" target="_blank">failing to reach an agreement to stay with LAFC</a>. It is believed he has an offer from familiar rivals LA Galaxy and his entourage is actively evaluating the proposal as they remain keen to decide his next destination before the next MLS season kicks off in February.

WHAT HAPPENED?

The general manager of LA Galaxy, Will Kuntz, who previously worked at LAFC, shares a strong relationship with Vela, which could expedite the decision-making. Apart from LA Galaxy, rumours <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/carlos-vela-real-sociedad-la-liga-mls-lafc/blt4447a7894a2afc01#cs49d251b7e69df98c" target="_blank">suggest interest from his former club, Real Sociedad, </a>Liga MX side Cruz Azul and NYCFC in MLS. All are eager to sign him as a free agent but it has been reported that Azul's offer for Vela is much more tantalizing than those received from elsewhere.

Vela spent six years at LAFC where he won two MLS Supporters' Shields, an MLS Cup and a Golden Boot award. He went on to make 188 appearances for the club and ended up with 93 goals and 54 assists.

Vela has several options in front of him. While a move to Real Sociedad could be the most attractive one in terms of the sporting project, a retracing of steps to his home country to join Cruz Azul cannot be discarded. Whereas, he could also choose to continue in familiar surroundings in MLS with LA Galaxy and extend his stay in the United States, particularly as there's been a surge in soccer interest following Lionel Messi's move to Inter Miami.
