Dubbed the dark horses in the 2014 World Cup and Euro 2016, Belgium never quite lived up to the tag in either tournament and will be out to prove their worth here.
The Red Devils boast some of the world’s top players in Eden Hazard, Romelu Lukaku and Dries Mertens and their troupe is seen by many as the country’s best ever.
2018 World Cup Qualification
A 1-1 draw at home to Greece was the only blemish on an otherwise perfect qualification stage for Belgium, who won their other nine games with relative ease.
There were notable 9-0 and 6-0 wins over debutants Gibraltar whilst Lukaku netted 11 times across his country’s 10 games as Belgium became the first European side to book their ticket to Russia.
dabblebetTournament History
Belgium’s World Cup history does not make for the happiest reading.
A fourth place finish in 1986 represents their best tournament to date, with their quarter-final exploits in last year’s edition marking their second-best return.
The Red Devils will hope for an improvement on four years ago when they only managed to score six times in five games, despite being favourites in every match until crashing out Argentina in the last eight.
