World Cup 2010: Spain's Sergio Busquets Plays Down Individual Contribution In Favour Of Teamwork

Spain midfielder Sergio Busquets has played down his own individual contribution in their semi-final victory over Germany on Wednesday night.

La Furia Roja defeated the high-flying Germans 1-0 to progress to their first ever World Cup final. Busquets had a great game in Durban but has downplayed his performance by insisting that the team comes first.

"The only important thing is that the team wins. I'm happy with that," Spanish sports daily AS quotes the Barcelona medio as saying.

"We all like to be valued and praised, but the important thing is the team. I prefer to win the World Cup."

Speaking about the Netherlands, the 21-year-old is aware of the threat that the Dutch pose.

"They are a great team, who do very well on the counterattack. Their attacking players are very quick and their most dangerous moves are always through [Wesley] Sneijder, who creates the attacking moves.

"But we will try to cover him. It will be difficult. Every game is more challenging than the last and the final is the most challenging of them all. I think that they are one of the two best teams in the tournament. Against them, we will have to play to our strengths and go for it."

Busquets also gave his opinion on Carles Puyol's winner against Germany and the comparison that has been made between Barcelona and Spain.

"Puyol deserved to score a goal. He is one of the best defenders in the world and this is certainly his last World Cup. Hopefully, he will take a nice souvenir after the competition is over.

"The philosophy and style between Barcelona and Spain is very similar. For me, it is much better as I work with my team-mates all year round, so it is much easier."
