Aston Villa suffered their first defeat of 2018 after Steve Bruce’s side lost 2-0 against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday in the Championship.

With that result, the Cottagers are now on a 10-game unbeaten run, but more importantly they find themselves just five points behind third placed Villa.

Villa went into the match with loads of confidence, having won their previous seven Championship games in a row.

However, the absence of Jack Grealish and Albert Adomah meant their attacking options were blunted and they lacked a cutting edge.

Villa’s problem compounded after Ahmed El Mohamady had to be substituted in the 46th minute, following a challenge with Fulham’s Matt Targett.
