Reported Tottenham target Axel Disasi has been named as a late call up for France’s 2022 FIFA World Cup squad, with the defender replacing PSG superstar Presnel Kimpembe, who will miss the competition through injury.
Announcing on their official Twitter account, Les Bleus confirmed that the AS Monaco centre-back will travel to Qatar as a replacement for Kimpembe, who has failed to recover in time from an injury that will see the France superstar miss out on the World Cup later this month.

A reported target for Tottenham according to Marca, Disasi has enjoyed a rapid ascent to the top of European football after establishing himself as a key player for Monaco, with the defender this season taking the armband on numerous occasions and being valued at £42m.
And now, the 24-year-old has a chance to impress an even bigger audience this winter after being selected by Didier Deschamps to replace a huge name in the France camp in Kimpembe, with Disasi having the potential to feature for the reigning World Cup champions in Qatar.
Indeed, France head to the Middle East this week as one of the favourites to win the entire competition. And for Tottenham, they will be eager to see how Disasi performs if given the chance by France to showcase his qualities on the biggest stage of all in football.
Disasi playing for France in the World Cup could be career-defining
Tottenham were linked with a move for Disasi quite some months ago, yet interest could easily flare up from the north London side if the Monaco defender is given a sniff to feature for France in the World Cup, a competition that could prove career-defining for the centre-back.
After all, the World Cup has the potential to catapult a player’s career if they perform. And for Disasi, the defender could experience just this in the coming weeks if France turn to the Ligue 1 side to become their defensive saviour this winter.
