In recent weeks, the transfer of David Luiz to Barcelona seemed just a formality. The media even reported agreed upon deals of €40M and the impending official statement to come after the World Cup.

However, as reported by El Mundo Deportivo today, Barca is not interested in the young defender because apparently he does not fit the “right profile.” As stated by the Catalan team:

“[We consider] Luiz to be a great player, but not the best.”

David Luiz - Barcelona or Chelsea?

However, just yesterday DailyStar reported the Brazilian to have agreed to a £32M deal to move to Barcelona. In fact, Luiz, who failed to find much room this season, has no real reason to stay at Stamford Bridge.

To confirm the rumors of the defender leaving Chelsea is Mourinho’s apparent blessing of the deal. The Portuguese manager does not seem interested in the young defender and has instead offered Terry a contract extension.

Although Barca’s Neymar, Alves, and Adriano would gladly welcome the fellow Brazilian, most everything will depend on the Catalan’s new coach. Therefore, until Luis Henrique signs with Barcelona, much more stalling by the Spanish club can and should be expected.
