The Brazilian national team was crowned world five-a-side football champion in Bangkok after beating Spain 3-2 in the final. Brazil claimed its fifth world title and with it, draws level with the Brazilian football 11-a-side team on 5 title wins.

Just as the final in Thailand was heading towards penalties, a shot from Neto 20 seconds from the end of the second half of extra time gave Brazil the victory. Spain came back from 1-0 down, through goals from Torras and Aicardo, but Falcão drew things level three minutes before the end of normal time. Neto deprived Spain of a third world title.

Spain dominated the first half of the game, although they didn't make the most of the chances they created in front of Tiago in the Brazilian goal.

Brazil took the lead in the second half with a goal from Neto, but Spain turned the game on its head through Torras and Aicardo. With just three minutes left on the clock, Falcão restored parity and sent the game into extra time.

In the second half of extra time, Neto sealed the win with a shot across the goal. Neto, who plays his club football at Brazil's Krona Joinville Dalponte was also named the tournament’s best player, chosen in a poll by journalists present.

Along with Neto, Spaniard Kike was named the tournament's second best player, whilst Portuguese Ricardinho was third. Russian-born Brazilian Eder Lima was the tournament's top goalscorer with 9 goals, followed closely by Fortino (8) and Fernandinho (7).
