The defending champion Golden State Warriors -- without suspended Draymond Green -- will begin trying to climb out of a hole their current squad has never faced when they host the Sacramento Kings on Thursday night (10:00 pm ET / 7:00 pm PT) in one of the NBA playoff's three games on the schedule.

Kevon Looney will have to step in light of the Draymond Green suspension (OUT for stomping on Sabonis). The eighth-year center realizes his role is suddenly as large as ever for the defending champions. The Warriors on the ropes against fiery Sacramento in their first-round playoff series. Golden State will also need to rely heavily on Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson's three-pointer abilities.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr stressed that rebounding will be paramount for his team to compete without the do-everything Green in Game 3 against the Sacramento Kings. In his pre-game conference, Golden State's coach expressed confidence in his team pulling through: "We've been in some difficult situations before," Kerr said. "I guess maybe not down 2-0 but we've been down 3-1, which sounds worse. We've seen it all."

A loss against a talented Sacramento side tonight would almost certainly mean playoff elimination for the defending 2022 NBA champions.

Meanwhile, Kings coach Mike Brown enters the game after being announced on Wednesday as the first ever unanimous winner of the NBA's Coach of the Year award, an easy call after his first season in Sacramento saw the Kings make the playoffs for the first time since 2006.
