Club America from Liga MX did everything they could to sign Real Madrid legend and ex PSG defender Sergio Ramos

According to a report by Record, the Mexican club went as far as travelling to Spain in order to persuade the former Spain captain to join their ranks.

Club America's failed attempt

Sergio Ramos left PSG this summer after two years playing for the Parisian club. While his participation was significantly reduced because of injuries, the 37-year-old did manage to win two Ligue 1 titles during his time with the French club.

Club America was hoping to entice the Spanish defender to join the team now that he is a free agent, but it turns out that Ramos expects to earn a much higher salary than what the Mexican club was offering.

Reports are saying Ramos expects to earn at least $8 million dollars per year.

There are rumors that the defender is fielding offers from teams in the MLS and Saudi Arabia although no concrete efforts to sign him have been made public.

Where will Sergio Ramos end his career?

Ramos has been unable to enjoy an injury-free season in the last few years. His last deal with PSG while successful on paper, didn't offer a lot of satisfaction for the defender.

After 19 years of professional soccer, Ramos looks to end his stellar career comfortably in a club that offers him the most for the final years or months of his playing days.

While Mexico was a good option for the defender, who would have become the league's most expensive signing in history, it now looks like a move to the Middle East is the most likely scenario for Ramos if money is the main objective.

On the other hand, if the quality of life of his family is a priority, the player might consider re-establishing his rivalry with Lionel Messi in the MLS.
