Controversy continues after Switzerland's 3-2 win over Serbia in the 2022 World Cup group stage.
During the celebrations, Swiss midfielder Granit Xhaka wore the jersey of teammate Ardon Jashari, who has the same surname as the leader of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA).
Adem Jashari was executed in 1998 along with 60 others.
Serbia were frustrated by Xhaka's actions as the country have not recognized Kosovo's independence.
The Arsenal midfielder with Kosovo-Albanian roots had several run-ins with Serbia players during the game.
He grabbed his crotch after a dispute with the Serbian bench and was involved in another scuffle later in the game.
Provocative Serbian flag
A few days earlier, someone hung a flag showing the territory of Kosovo within the Serbian flag and the slogan "No surrender" in the Serbia dressing room ahead of their World Cup opener against Brazil.
Shaqiri and Xhaka stole the limelight in 2018
The parents of Xherdan Shaqiri and Xhaka immigrated to Switzerland because of the Balkan war.
Both men scored in their national team's 2-1 victory over Serbia at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, celebrating their goals by making a nationalist symbol of the Albanian Eagle.
