The World Cup appears to be over for the Earthquakes Victor Bernardez.

The star defender suffered a right calf injury in the first half of Honduras’ 3-0 defeat to France and was replaced in the second half.

He told reporters in Porto Alegre, Brazil, afterward that his situation doesn’t look good.

“I hope” for the best after a medical examination,” Bernardez said in Spanish. “But it isn’t easy. It’s really bad.”

Honduran coach Luiz Suarez agreed with the evaluation.

“That’s why I called 23 people,” he said in Spanish. “In case we need to make replacements.”
