Tim Neubauer and Christy Glowacki are both proud winners of a new bike. The Woodford County Unit of the American Cancer Society held their annual Bike-A-Thon on Saturday, October 9. Minonk alone had 17 riders and the rest of Woodford County met in Roanoke with a total of 40 riders participating. Members from Roanoke brought Mountain Dew and chips to the Minonk riders.
The Minonk group collected a total of $808.80 for the American Cancer Society. Coordinators for Minonk’s Bike-A-Thon were Marge and Dick Robertson, Jan Rhodes and Sharon Oncken. Other volunteers were: Bonnie and Kelly Rhodes, Carla and Bill Williams, Joyce Burton, Gina and Heather Winnet.
The children were allowed to ride from 1-4 p.m. Each child participating received a gift donated by the Minonk merchants in addition to a T-shirt, a certificate, a patch and a safety flag for their bike.
Tim Neubauer and Christy Glowacki won first prize for bringing in the most money. Having tied for 1st place, bringing in a total of $448.00 between them, they each won a 10-speed bike.
Gary Williams showed the most stamina, riding almost non-stop for a total of 42.5 miles, winning a trophy for the most miles and a $25.00 savings account at First Federal Savings and Loan.
Other participants and gifts received were: Jeff Brown, 3 games bowling; Butch Cirks, White tractor; Angela Oncken, Barbie Horse; Robbie Schmitt, pizza and 3 games bowling; Danny Steinhilber, calculator and 3 games bowling; Sherri Timmerman, curling iron and 3 games bowling; Scott Johnson John Deere semi; Stephanie Carls, I.D. bracelet; Mark Robertson, I.H. combine; Sarah Hock, pocket radio; Jeff Jock, I.H. tractor; Michelle Cioni, Kurrle’s gift certificate; Amy Beharelle, Country Florist gift certificate; and Minnie Simmons, a box of candy.
