Russia midfielder Yuri Zhirkov has retired from international football following the hosts' exit from the World Cup after an emotional quarter-final loss on penalties to Croatia in Sochi.

"I don't have enough power to play at this level any more," Moscow newspaper Sport-Express quoted him as saying in their Wednesday edition.
"There's no time for the family, the children. Imagine, this is my second summer with no holiday," the 34-year-old Zenit St Petersburg player said.
Zhirkov missed Russia's quarter-final defeat due to injury.
He joins former team-mates Sergei Ignashevich and Alexandr Samedov, who also retired from international football in the wake of the Croatia game.
