  • Harry Glancy

    Harrison Smith Glancy (September 17, 1904 โ€“ September 22, 2002) was an American competition swimmer who represented the United States at the 1924 Summer Olympics in Paris, France and the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. In 1924, he won a gold medal as a member of the winning U.S. team in the men's 4ร—200-meter freestyle relay, together with teammates Ralph Breyer, Wally O'Connor and Johnny Weissmuller. Glancy and his American teammates set new world records in both the semifinals (9:59.4) and final (9:53.4).Glancy was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame as an "Honor Pioneer Swimmer" in 1990.

He won the gold medal in the 400-metre freestyle at the 1997 Universiade. In 1995, Luiz Lima surpassed the Djan Madruga's record in the 1500-metre freestyle, 1976. After this, broke the record again.     Hiroshi Yoneyama (็ฑณๅฑฑ ๅผ˜, Yoneyama Hiroshi, 1908 in Ibaraki โ€“ January 24, 1988) was a Japanese swimmer who competed in the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam. A graduate of Waseda University, Yoneyama was a member of the Japanese team which won the silver medal for the 4 ร— 200 meter freestyle relay event at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics. He also placed fifth in the semifinal of the 400 meter freestyle event, and did not advance.
  • Benno Gerrit Valentijn Kuipers (born March 6, 1974 in Ede, Gelderland) is a former breaststroke swimmer from the Netherlands. Kuipers competed for his native country in two consecutive Summer Olympics, starting in 1996 in Atlanta, Georgia. After having missed qualification for the European LC Championships 2002 in Berlin, he retired from the international scene. He then became an assistant coach of Fedor Hes in Amsterdam. Kuipers won a total of eighteen Dutch titles during his career, which was plagued by injury. During his swimming career, Kuipers became 18 times Dutch Champion.

He participated in the 1500 metre freestyle competition, but was eliminated in the first round. Also he was part of the Dutch water polo team, which finished fourth in the 1908 tournament.

    Eduard Meijer (25 February 1878, Amsterdam โ€“ 20 March 1929, Amsterdam) was a Dutch freestyle swimmer and water polo player who competed in the 1900 Summer Olympics and 1908 Summer Olympics. In 1900 he competed in the 4000 metre freestyle competition and finished fifth. Eight years later he participated in the 1500 metre freestyle competition, but he was eliminated in the first round. He was also part of the Dutch water polo team, which finished fourth in the 1908 tournament. He is the older brother of Karel Meijer.

    Heath Terrence Ramsay (born 3 April 1981) is a former butterfly swimmer who competed for Australia at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia. An accomplished pianist, Heath wrote the Australian Dolphins team song in the lead up to the 2002 Commonwealth Games. Retiring from swimming in 2003, Heath founded a successful learn to swim centre in Ipswich and is the patron of the Bundamba Bowls Club. An avid Wests Tigers fan, in 2006 Heath walked the Kokoda track as part of a Tigers supporters group celebrating their 2005 Premiership win. He opted to make the trek in bare feet.

While a student at Meiji University, he set national records over 200 m (2:14.6) and 400 m (4:50.4). He was selected for the 1932 Olympics and won a bronze medal in the 400 m event, despite suffering a severe bout of gastroenteritis before the Games.

Braknis set the Canadian and Commonwealth record in the 50-metre backstroke in 1994. Braknis is a graduate of Florida State University where he was a 7-time All-American and the Atlantic Coast Conference Swimmer of the Year in 1995. At the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, West Germany, he won a bronze medal in the men's 4ร—100-metre medley relay, together with Canadian teammates Erik Fish, Bruce Robertson and Robert Kasting. After taking a year off, in his final international event at the 1974 Commonwealth Games in Auckland, New Zealand, he won another gold medal swimming his lifetime fastest Breastroke leg for the Canadian team in the 4ร—100-metre medley relay, alongside Brian Phillips, Bruce Robertson and Steve Pickell. From 1977 to 1987 he developed the Adapted Aquatics program at Variety's Treatment Centre in Surrey, British Columbia, and helped to form the British Columbia Branch of the Cerebral Palsy Sports Association. Later, while coaching parapalegic and blind swimmers, he was selected to coach the Canadian swimmers at the 1980 Olympics for the Disabled in the Netherlands. He was awarded Athlete of the Year in New Westminster, and inducted into the BC Swimming Hall of Fame, Canadian Swimming Hall of Fame, and BC Sports Hall of Fame.
