Why does my Condy Anemone look like this? Is this normal? The mouth is wide open!

Welcome to R2R!

Can you tell us about your tank a little? Current parameters, tank age and lighting?

Hi
So I have Fluval Evo Tank 13.5 gallon and I got the water salinity at 1.025. I got everything checked yesterday at a Reef store because I have a lot doubts with my own testing so I basically took my water there to get tested. I’m actually new to salt water tank. I have 5 freshwater tanks but this is my first salt water and it is about 1 month old. I got nutrisea water from Petsmart because I wasn’t sure about doing mixing on my own at first in the beginning. I let it run and fishes seem to be doing fine and parameters are fine too but about this condy I called into the reef store today and they told me it may be hungry and that I need to feed it. Do y’all think thats the problem? I’m attaching another picture.

Being one month old is your issue. Anemone require a mature tank. For new reefers I'd recommend 9 months or older.

FYI, that’s a macrodactyla doreensis (LTA), not a condy. Welcome to R2R!

Someone told me it was a condy. Omg thank you so much for telling me which one it is. I was going crazy looking online trying to find which one it may be. It makes sense now. It’s doing fine right now but I just wanted to know why the mouth was open. Thank you again.

As I mentioned before a 1 month old tank is usually not something an anemone will survive in. If you started with well established live rock and have maintained correct parameters would be the exception

I did start off with a very well established live rock actually without knowing this. I hope it survives, I mean I fed it yesterday, so it looks fine to me as of right now.

Would need a few better pics of the oral disc to be certain. It don’t see verracue, which fits bta. If it is a bta, put it on the rocks, it won’t be happy in the sand.
