The 14 goals of World Cup Day 11, ranked

Is this going to be the highest scoring World Cup ever?

We’ve been through 32 World Cup games and not one of them has ended in a 0-0 draw. Saturday was an incredibly high-scoring game, and Sunday was even more ridiculous, with 14 goals hitting the back of the net.

Harry Kane scored a hat trick, going into the lead for the golden boot with five goals in the tournament. But as you’ll see, he didn’t exactly have the best goals of the day. In fact, on this list of 14, the first three you’ll see are Kane’s. Then we get to the really good stuff.

14. Harry Kane completes a hat trick with a bit of luck

No, he did not know anything about this.

13. Kane’s second penalty

Yes, he had two. They were both very good.

12. Kane’s first penalty

This one just had a bit more snap on it, you know?

11. Sadio Mane’s opener

Hoo buddy. This is a mess.

10. John Stones’ second

Not as good as his first goal, which we’ll get to, but still a nice set piece goal.

9. Keisuke Honda’s late equalizer

Mad scramble. Terrible goalkeeping.

8. Felipe Baloy scores Panama’s first ever World Cup goal

It was part of a whooping, but Baloy should still remember the honor fondly.

7. Stones’ opener for England

Perfect planned set piece routine. England saw something in Panama’s setup and exploited it perfectly.

OK, now it’s time for the really good stuff.

6. Radamel Falcao finishes off a counter

The first of two appearances on setups by Juan Fernando Quintero. It was awesome to see the legendary Falcao finally get his first career World Cup goal.

5. Yerry Mina’s opener for Colombia

Check out Quintero’s reverse pass before James’ chip. Genius.

4. Takashi Inui’s well-placed finish

Heck of an assist by Yuto Nagatomo too.

3. Moussa Wague finishes off a gorgeous team move

That’s one heck of a run and finish from a 19-year-old right back, at the end of an even better team move.

2. An absolute beauty by Jesse Lingard

One-two with Raheem Sterling, blasted into the top corner. Gorgeous.

1. Juan Cuadrado’s goal, but really, James Rodriguez’s assist

THIS PASS. How does a human even *see* that, forget executing it. Absurd.
