Jordan Henderson feels he is ready to prove himself at the highest level as he looks set to play a key role in England's World Cup campaign.
The Liverpool midfielder has transformed himself in the past 18 months under Brendan Rodgers and is now set to start alongside team-mate Steven Gerrard in the middle of Roy Hodgson's midfield when they face Italy on Saturday.
And Henderson cannot wait to line up against the world's best.
"It doesn't get much bigger than the World Cup," he said.
"You're playing against the best players but I feel as though everyone is ready for that, I am ready for that and we'll just have a right go.
"We have got no fear in the team, we're very high in confidence so, like I say, I feel we have some brilliant players.
"We're a good team so there's no reason why we can't do that."
Henderson is looking forward to continuing his club partnership with Gerrard.
"Obviously I've played with Steven for a number of years now and I've got a good relationship with him," he continued.
"I am just trying to bring that with England as best we can, but everybody is gelling well and we're gelling well as a team.
"This week we'll really focus on Italy. That is the big game, we're looking forward to being in Rio now and settling in. We're really looking forward to the first game."
