Milinkovic-Savic had a great game in Serbia's World Cup opener against Costa Rica

Russia 2018 has been ideal location for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, coming off the back of a fantastic season with Lazio, to appear in the shop window. He continued to justify the high praise and interest in him by putting in a man of the match performance for Serbia against Costa Rica.

For a lot of people that match against Costa Rica was the first time they'd seen him in action. The 23 year old, who was born in Lleida, has just completed his third season at Lazio.

Half of the world are asking about this midfielder. Milinkovic-Savic's coach didn't have any doubts about his talent as he saw the player outshine his rivals at the U20 World Cup in New Zealand three years ago. Alongside him were players such as Milos Veljkovic (Werder Bremen), Andrija Zivkovic (Benfica), Marko Grujic (Cardiff), Nemanja Radonic (Red Star Belgrade) and Luka Jovic (Eintracht).

Amongst all of those names it was Milinkovic-Savic who stood out against Costa Rica. At nearly two metres tall he showed great positioning and his movement didn't seem compatible with someone who has such a large frame. He can play in the centre of the park or further forward, just behind the striker.

In the middle of the transfer window where there are new rumours every day but one name that is on everyone's lips is Milinkovic-Savic. At just 23 and having already played in Belgium with Genk and now Italy with Lazio, his market value is skyrocketting. The likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid have asked about the player who most value around the €100m mark. This is the same fee Barça were willing to spend on Griezmann. Milinkovic-Savic is definitely a player to keep an eye on.
