Timothy Chandler completes transfer to Eintracht Frankfurt

Timothy Chandler is going to Eintracht Frankfurt. The United States right back was looking for a new home after Nurnberg was relegated and has landed with a solid mid-table club in need of a fullback.

Chandler is actually a product of the Entracht youth system, but he never made it to their senior team. He came up through the academy and played for the reserves, but then moved to Nurnberg, where he had been since 2010. Chandler established himself as a Bundesliga regular with Nurnberg in 2010-11 and has been their starting right back for the last three years, but once the club went down, he had to look for a new home.

Eintracht made Chandler a priority early on and was linked to the American within days of Nurnberg's relegation. They sold Sebastian Jung to Wolfsburg. leaving them with a gaping hole at right back. That is one that Chandler will now step into, so not only is Chandler moving to a better club than the one he was at, but he should be a starter from Day 1.

Chandler isn't the most popular U.S. player. Be it his resistance to accepting call-ups for much of the last three years or his struggles for the national team, he has had his issues with the Stars and Stripes, but he is a World Cup player and at 24 years old, should be in the mix come 2018 as well. His continued development is important to the Americans so the Eintracht move will certainly please Jurgen Klinsmann.
