Happy birthday, Jozy Altidore

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Today, Jozy Altidore is 25. Yes, he is only 25.

It's easy to forget just how young Altidore is because he debuted for the New York Red Bulls at 16 and earned his first national team cap just a year later. He has been a part of American soccer for nine years, and yet he is only 25 years old.

By the time Altidore's career is over, he will have played in three World Cups, with a fourth possible as well. He already has 24 goals for the U.S., fifth most in team history, and could very well be second before he retires.

Altidore is not the dominant force that a lot of fans hoped he would be. When Altidore was a teenager, he looked like the guy who could be a world class striker, starring for a good club in one of Europe's best leagues. That isn't going to happen, but that is okay. He's still a good player for the U.S. and, as we saw after he was hurt at this summer's World Cup, hugely important.

He's also still pretty damn funny.

Happy birthday, Jozy.
