They say that attack can be the best form of defence and that is certainly true when it comes to Johnson.

If the full-back could defend as well as he can attack then they would be talking about the former West Ham, Chelsea and Portsmouth player being the best very right-back in the world.

When he ventures forward Johnson can be reminiscent of Gary Neville in his prime thanks to vast reserves of energy, his ability to link up play, cross devilishly and deliver thunderous shots with either foot.

However, lapses of concentration, errors of judgement and poor positioning when he is carrying out defensive duties - such as in Liverpool's Europa League defeat by Atlético Madrid - mean he can be a liability and that will be exploited by Fabio Capello's peers.

Fact: In November, Johnson along with Anfield team-mate Fabio Aurelio arrived in Serbia for horse-placenta cure.
