Nashville SC added another right back to its depth chart Wednesday by signing veteran Honduran international Brayan Beckeles. The 34-year-old defender joins MLS and the Music City from Club Olimpia Deportivo in his native Honduras.

Originally reported by Soccer Speedway Tuesday, the club confirmed Wednesday that Beckeles, pending a P-1 Visa and an international transfer certificate, joins Re-Entry draft selection Eric Miller at the right back position. The details of the Honduran's contract have not been disclosed, but Beckeles holds a Green Card and will be designated as a domestic player on the roster.

Beckeles brings national team experience and familiarity with top-level soccer while playing in Portugal with Boavista Porto FC in Liga Nos. Before returning to Honduras in July to play with Olimpia for a second stint, Beckeles spent four seasons with Club Necaxa in Mexico's first-tier Liga MX.

In Mexico, Beckeles made 84 appearances, winning the Copa MX and Supercopa MX in 2018. The defender has earned 65 caps with the Honduran national team since making his debut in Sept. 2010. Three of which came during the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Aaron Mooy of Australia, left, and Brayan Beckeles of Honduras compete for the ball in the air during the 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers Leg 2 match between the Australian Socceroos and Honduras at ANZ Stadium in Sydney, Australia.

MLS will be new for the defender, but Nashville SC general manager said the Beckeles has experience that the club needs.

“Brayan has been a standout at the domestic and international levels,” Jacobs said in a club statement Wednesday. “His ability to defend at a high level in Liga MX, as well as throughout CONCACAF representing Honduras, makes him someone who would slot in nicely into our back line.”

Beckeles will officially join Nashville during the January transfer window and will play in Olimpia's final matches this month.
