Football transfers rumours: Wayne Rooney to Paris Saint-Germain?

Those sniffy artists in the Latin Quarter who draw borderline offensive caricatures of tourists will have their work cut out if rumours linking Wayne Rooney with a £40m to Paris Saint-Germain turn out to have any substance. The Times reports that the French club are interested in reuniting the Manchester United and England striker with his old mucker David Beckham and will pay Manchester United £40m for the privilege of pairing him with Zlatan Ibrahimovic in a mouthwateringly volatile strike partnership.

High on the hog after his side's victory over Barcelona in the Copa Del Rey last night, former Real Madrid president Roman Calderon has told TalkSport that the Spanish side are in "a healthy position" to sign Gareth Bale. Depending on which paper you take with your morning tiffin, the transfer fee will be somewhere between £40m (The Star) and £70m (The Express).

Calderon also told the radio station that Real's current poster-boy Cristiano Ronaldo will decide on his future during the summer. Should Bale move on during the summer, Spurs could sign Real Sociedad winger Antoine Griezmann as his replacement. According to Spanish newspaper AS, the 21-year-old Frenchman and Valencia striker Robert Soldado are both wanted at White Hart Lane.

Having been criticised for complacency by his manager Roberto Mancini in an exclusive Guardian interview last weekend, it should come as no surprise to learn that Samir Nasri will be allowed leave Manchester City during the summer. Goal.com reports that once the "unsettled" French international emerges from his hiding place behind Edin Dzeko, he'd quite like to move back to London and his current employers will start the bidding war between Chelsea, Tottenham and Leyton Orient at £18m.

Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchesters United and City all want to sign Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini this summer, while Arsène Wenger will attempt to pacify impatient Gooners by bringing Spain striker David Villa to the Emirates from Barcelona. The Catalan club's full-back Dani Alves has also assured anyone who'll listen to him that slightly unconvincing Brazilian superstar Neymar will be moving to Camp Nou when he leaves Santos after the 2014 World Cup.
