And the £90million-rated Serbian has promised he will consider his career options after the tournament, after being linked with moves to Manchester United and Real Madrid.

His country face Brazil, Switzerland and Costa Rica and teed up their tournament with a 5-1 win over Bolivia last night.

Milinkovic-Savic said: "I am trying to remain concentrated, even though every day I read something new about me.

"Obviously I feel pressure on me and know that I'll have to live with this situation throughout the World Cup.

"It's the same pressure when I play for Lazio, so I am accustomed to it.

"I will decide where to continue my career after the World Cup.

"There's a very good atmosphere among the squad and it feels like I've been here for years.

"I can't wait to start the tournament."

Manchester United are one of many clubs interested in signing Milinkovic-Savic, with 13-time European champions Real Madrid also said to be interested.

According to reports, Arsenal have also joined the race for his signature, but the Gunners cannot offer Champions League football next term.

And he talked up his connection with United midfielder Nemanja Matic, who he will play alongside at the World Cup, after being likened to Zinedine Zidane.

Milinkovic-Savic added: "That comparison can only flatter me.

"However, I see myself more as a Yaya Toure.

"As for idols, I can say I have always watched and looked up to Nemanja Matic as well."
