Álvaro Morata Martín

1992 Madrid

Alvaro Morata, son of Susana Martin and Alfonso Morata, was born in Madridon October 23, 1992. Those who have known him since he was a child say that since he was crawling he knew how to play soccer and that this sport has always been part of his inner happiness.

With a broken heart

For any football-loving child, being born in the capital of Spain has many advantages, both as a promise and as a fan. Alvarito, because that's how he was called as a child, was lucky enough to live near the Vicente Calderón and Santiago Bernabéu stadiums, being a fan of both clubs. The little boy began his sporting career at just three years old in the academy of the Real Madrid foundation and was fortunate enough to maintain a relationship with great soccer stars such as Raúl González, Roberto Carlos and Fernando Morientes from a very early age.

His father is undoubtedly one of the most important figures in his sporting career and is currently his manager. His mother Susana, a Real Madrid fanatic, has also always supported her son, showing her support at every moment of his career. His older sister, Marta, with whom he has had an excellent relationship since childhood, has also been present at all his brother's successes and we can always see her at the stadium when her brother plays.

"My father always told me that he got calls from both clubs, and he wanted to sign me up for Atletico because it was closer to my home, but at the same time he had the feeling that he might regret turning down an opportunity at the white club. That's why I started at the Madrid academy at a very young age," Morata said during an interview.

His grandfather Ignacio, a lifelong Atleti supporter, is also one of the most important people in the player's life. "I'm not going to stop being an Atleti supporter. If you ask me what I want to happen in an Atleti-Madrid match, I would tell you that Atleti wins 3-2 and both goals are scored by my grandson. When my son was little I could already see that he was crazy about a ball, the first ball my wife and I bought him," he said in an interview on Marca TV.

His first steps

The little boy began his career in the red and white youth academy and after playing two years in the Cadete B of Atlético de Madrid, Morata played for a year with Getafe C.F.
