The Chilean midfielder suffered World Cup heartbreak on Saturday, La Roja knocked out in a dramatic penalty shoot-out defeat to Brazil in Belo Horizonte.

After his side's exit from the last 16, a visibly upset Medel was left in tears after leaving the field before penalties arrived barely able to walk.

It was a heroic effort from the Cardiff City man, who has enjoyed a superb tournament as the defensive linchpin for Jorge Sampaoli's side.
