More information:

Jojoba Simmondsia chinensis Tucson, Pima County, Arizona, Unietd States 10 May Fruit Simmondsiaceae Grown commercially to produce Jojoba oil. The oil is used as a fine machine oil, for skin care products, and as a biofuel with a similar energy density to diesel fules. The foliage is eaten by a large variety of browsing animals and the nuts are eaten by rabbits, squirrels, birds and rodents. Also known as deer nut, pignut, goat nut, wild hazel, gray box bush, coffeeberry, and quinine nut. This species is native to the southwestern United States. The latin name chinensis was a mistake by the first person to describe the species who misunderstood the abbreviated name for California (Calif.) as China.
